I Loves both my parents! One rose above this earthly existence in the 70s (Daddy can you Hear me? The Browns will be Back). The other rises and shines (or not – she’s a ‘pistol’) every day!

Doing laundry, combing heads;
Begins with giving baths,
then shooing to the showers.
Daily affirming, her
Mommie powers.
She is the Nurse and/or Doctor.
Helps with homework; and is test proctor.

Any way you slice it
Two times twenty-five
Or five times ten
Four times twelve point five
or the reverse of them…

It’s Fifty, the halfway point
for the blessed and/or lucky?
Just some random thoughts as I hear
‘Happy Birthday’ being sung to me!

It’s life anew, the best years to come,
Say ones who have ‘blazed’ the trail.
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll also agree,
But today it’s just not biding well.

It’s not so bad, I’m right behind you,
Say those of the forty-something.
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll concede,
But today I need to hear Yolanda sing.

‘This too shall pass”, ’there’s Someone watching over you’,
And ‘Open My Heart‘, she sings, I’m humming.
Cause any way you slice it, I’m still alive and kicking,
And better days/weeks/years are a coming.

You ask if I think of you? I utter yes. As the beats grow stronger in my chest. You said you want more, I say more what? Surely as Anita, it’s ‘The Best I’ve Got’ Does my voice NOT elucidate my reaction? To our Song of Love and Sweet Passion. *Other lyrics ask, ‘When will I see you again?”, I ask if not now, then, when, when, when?* They say slow down, coming on too strong. I say ‘full speed ahead’, just you’d better hold on! Uh-oh, break time is over, time to go back in. Glowing I am, wearing a nice phat grin.

Across two thousand miles, I got a call from Mama today.

She’d tuned her radio to the spot where Jazz used to play.

Before she fussed, ’cause it was not as jazzy as in her day.

Now the tunes had no horns, but banging guitar, and drumming play.

Sympathetically, I said, our jazz stations had also gone away.

They’ve been replaced with Classic Rock and Roll; and no, we didn’t have a say.

No Market: for horns, piano, and jazz guitar, is the reason they say;

Yet all the smooth jazz shows and cruises sell out in just a few days.

We can still enjoy daily doses of jazz, on line; or digital play.

So stay tuned with me, to a calming cool down of Jazzed Life in the Bay.

Item 11: Top Ten New Year’s Resolutions (What can I say? I like odd numbers)

#11) I promise to play more games, of all types (gotta lighten up)

Learned of this game from a work buddy. Just add the phrase ‘In Bed’ or similar, to fortune cookies.

The one on their site reads ‘Try something new and different. You will like the results’…then ‘In Bed‘ is added.

I’ll begin with one I posted here in the Spring:

‘A new relationship is about to blossom. You will be blessed. – ‘In Bed’. Now that’s crazy, crazy naughty!

Let’s do one ‘mentally’! Here’s one from a General List of fortune cookies.

‘You will step on the soil of many countries’. Let’s add the ‘In Bed‘. Yikes! Doesn’t quite work with this one, perhaps t’is accomplished by reading or watching t.v. (LoL)?

Whatcha mean no drama, no games? Your not giving any slack, not taking any names.

Your reaction to my expressive tirades or counterbalancing moves, also fans the flames.

Is not Life itself a Drama? Filled with one acts, double bills, and triple axle jumps?

Can’t help if my silence engulfs you, or my expressive reactions make it a ride of bumps.

Please don’t relegate, subjugate my Drama, just ask me to turn the Volume down!

Is not Life itself a Game? One goal, to effect, affect those all around!

Whatcha mean no drama, no games? Haven’t you studied, haven’t you learned?

In the Drama of our Life, Game of our Love; There’s plenty of pages yet to be turned.

We get lost in the day to day, the weekly grind, and a year passes by.

Of our sense of goodwill, and heartwarming dreams, to ourselves be true.
Let’s find the time to connect with family, and friends (both old and new)!

As I am writing, ‘Rocky’ is wooing ‘Adrian‘, and the turkey is baking.
Be you a fan or not, the awarded film’s storyline can be heartbreaking.

As Rocky, we nourish our hearts, stand up to challenges, bringing joy to some;
Let us reflect, pray, or meditate on the ‘now’, and wonderful things to come!
